Rumors Runnin Round

Intro
G C D

Verse 1
          G
I was the life of the party, a Good Time Charlie
                                                  C
Called me Mr. Last Call, most unlikely to fall in love
             D G D Em
No thanks to you, now I'm the talk of the town
D G
Well, my friends swore I'd never settle down forever
                                              C
When they see us together out on that sawdust floor
                 D G
From a fool on a stool, they all say, "Look at me now."

Chorus
D Em
I hear 'em talking 'bout the line I'm walking
       C G
Saying I ain't the same, and they all blame you
  D Em
I heard through the grapevine there's candlelight and red wine
C D
Something 'bout a diamond that might ring true
     G
They say talk is cheap, but the word on the street is
                                  C
You and me just might be settling down
                 D G D
Girl, I've heard rumors running around

Verse 2
             G
Those beauty shop gossip queens and the honky-tonk kings
                                                          C
Little ladies at the church, the old men down at the feed store
                      D G
Even Mama said you're what she's been praying 'bout

Chorus
D Em
I hear 'em talking 'bout the line I'm walking
       C G
Saying I ain't the same, and they all blame you
  D Em
I heard through the grapevine there's candlelight and red wine
C D
Something 'bout a diamond that might ring true
     G
They say talk is cheap, but the word on the street is
                                  C
You and me just might be settling down
                 D G
Girl, I've heard rumors running around

Call it love at first sight
G
How I can't go at night without holding you tight
                              C
Watching reruns wrapped in my arms
                    D G
And they say I'm in too deep to turn back now
                  C D
Girl, maybe these rumors ain't just rumors
